AAID took on the significant role of the lead design consultant for the extensive 48 million AED refurbishment project of the Zayed National Football Stadium in Abu Dhabi—an iconic and longstanding cultural landmark in the city. Entrusted with this responsibility by Mubadala, our objective was to breathe new life into this historic structure, consolidating past renovations into a cohesive and comprehensive plan.

The scope of the project was broad, encompassing crucial updates to the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems, an external works master plan aimed at elevating the overall fan experience, obtaining statutory approvals for key areas such as the VIP lounge, offices, and restrooms, and reimagining the stadium's painting and wayfinding to reflect a fresh vision.

AAID worked in tandem with external landscape designers, aiming to seamlessly integrate enhancements that would positively impact the fan's journey throughout the stadium. The collaborative approach ensured that every aspect of the refurbishment contributed not only to the stadium's aesthetic appeal but also to the functionality and overall experience for both visitors and stakeholders.
