The British Council
AAID was selected as the interior design firm to spearhead a comprehensive renovation project for the British Council. The primary objective was to enhance security measures, optimize circulation, improve teaching facilities, and fortify office support functions. Additionally, the challenge included seamlessly integrating the design of this educational organization into the residential ambiance of two villas.
The devised solution comprised several key elements, including the introduction of a new security guard house structure, a connecting link structure, strategically placed light wells, and thoughtful landscaping between the villas. The overarching design approach aimed at reinstating a local cultural and coastal atmosphere, achieved through the incorporation of features like mashrabiya screens and the revitalization of materials such as hardwearing flooring and timber.
A significant focus was placed on updating the classrooms to align with modern standards, incorporating new branding, vibrant colors, engaging graphics, and cutting-edge technology. This comprehensive makeover resulted in a modern and fresh aesthetic, transforming the learning spaces into dynamic environments that resonate with the contemporary ethos of the British Council.
AAID's design not only addressed functional enhancements but also succeeded in seamlessly merging the educational facility with its residential surroundings, creating a harmonious blend of cultural elements and modern functionality. The result is an upgraded space that not only meets the British Council's operational needs but also provides an inviting and culturally enriched environment for both learners and staff.
